This lap swimming challenge is conducted at your own pace in the YMCA swimming pool. Simply keep track of the laps you swim during each workout and record your mileage on the tracking sheet (tracking sheet is available from any lifeguard). After each workout, have a lifeguard or someone in aquatics sign your tracking form. Earn prizes at the end and bragging rights during the challenge. Weekly updates will be on display. 2023 Youth in Government was a huge success. 21 students from Manitowoc County debated bills, made friends from across the state, sang karaoke, debated some more, learned about themselves and had the courage to stand up for what they believe in with no judgment in front of thier peers. We had 2 in Senate, 4 appointed positions, 5 in Leadership Corps, 10 in Assembly, and 1 media delegate. 4 passed and signed bills!!!

Since 1992, your local YMCA has had the tremendous honor of each year awarding 10 local high school seniors with a $1000 college scholarship. Thanks to the Richard and Ione Beerntsen Scholarship Fund set up specifically for this purpose, a panel of Y volunteers gets together each spring to review the applications and send ten $1000 checks to schools across the country on behalf of our local students. Swim Teams tend to measure their accomplishments in medals and state times— which we can certainly do and hold our own. We have more than a dozen swimmers headed to state in a few weeks and the average time-drop between each meet was always a jaw-dropper. So, yes, we have great athletes, and we love that.  However, this season was about so much more.: Our coaches— many of whom volunteer their time, talents, and expertise, coached more than form and flip turns. Help us keep our parking lot safe.  Please park your vehicle in alignment with the traffic direction and do not pull through to the other side of the diagonal lines (which puts your vehicle at odds with the flow of traffic). We’ve had some near misses with clipped cars and people not looking the correct way for traffic and walkers. Thank you for your cooperation!
