Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA Invites the Community to Celebrate 175 Years of the Y
The Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA is inviting the public to a free community Birthday Party on Thursday, May 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. as the Y celebrates 175 years since the YMCA was established in the United States.
The celebration will take place throughout the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA and will include activities for all ages. Guests can enjoy cupcakes, a lively dance party, activities for kids of all ages, and more!
Visitors are encouraged to pick up a “passport” at the front desk when they arrive. Guests can explore stations throughout the building, collect stamps from at least eight of the nine stations, and return their completed passport to the front desk for a chance to win a prize!
“This celebration is a chance for us to welcome the whole community into the Y,” said Julie Grossman, CEO of the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA. “The Y has been part of this community for generations, and we’re excited to celebrate that history while sharing the programs and partnerships that continue to strengthen Manitowoc and Two Rivers today.”
While the national YMCA movement is celebrating 175 years in the United States, the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA has been serving the local community since 1963. The current YMCA building was dedicated in 1969 and has remained a place where children learn and grow, families connect, older adults stay active, and neighbors find support.
The Birthday Party is free and open to the public. Whether you’ve been part of the Y for years or are stopping by for the first time, this is a great opportunity to celebrate our history, our mission, and the many ways the YMCA serves our community.
