Donna and Dar Johnson, longtime volunteers at the Manitowoc–Two Rivers YMCA, have been awarded the Leadership Award of Excellence from the Upper Midwest Alliance of YMCAs. This regional recognition celebrates continued excellence and dedication in providing outstanding volunteer leadership.

Donna and Dar have spent countless hours planning, planting, and maintaining the gardens that surround the YMCA, creating a welcoming and beautiful space for members and visitors. Donna’s eye for design and care for every detail, combined with Dar’s hard work behind the scenes hauling equipment and lending a hand wherever needed, have made the garden a beloved part of the Y experience.

"Donna and Dar are wonderful members of our Y community in so many ways,” said Julie Grossman, CEO. “This award recognizes how hard Donna works - with the unwavering help of her husband Dar - to make the Y a welcoming, beautiful place for all to enjoy. The flowers and gardens she plants and maintains throughout the season bring joy to thousands of people of all ages. We're all so grateful!" 

The Leadership Award of Excellence is presented annually to recognize volunteers who go above and beyond in advancing the YMCA’s mission across the Upper Midwest region
